TROUT FISHING
Fishing for trout in the clean waters
around St. Ignace Island can be excellent. Rainbow trout can be fished off St. Ignace Island and in the small streams on the island immediately after breakup. This early fishing can be dangerous. Gord Ellis, one of Canadas premier outdoor writers has noted:
"You cannot be too cautious on the wild waters of Nirivia .It is only a fool who takes the waters of Lake Superior lightly and this fact cannot be stressed enough. A small boat is fine in small waters, but trying to head across the big water in a fully loaded 14 foot boat is simply asking for trouble."
In June, Lake Trout fishing is often spectacular for action and excitement.

"The lake also managed to turn ugly a couple of times. The first full day of fishing on the south side of the island ended in nine to 12 foot swells that turned a 15 minute boat ride into an hour and a half ordeal .on the last day of the trip, a full blown sunny day we were ambushed by a fog bank " Gord Ellis A spring sojurn to an enchanted island The Chronicle Journal/Times News May 18, 1991
