KAYAKERS

The north shore of Lake Superior is popular with kayakers. All international kayakers must pay a ‘Crown Land Camping Permit’. This fee is presently $10 per person per night. Kayakers who are registered with a Tourist Outfitter are not required to pay this fee. As a service to kayakers on the north shore, Nirivian Island Expeditions registers kayakers for the above fee. This registration includes use of the sauna at Armour Harbour and information in regard to the hiking paths on St. Ignace Island and other helpful information on the does and don’t on the islands.

Lake Superior can often be rough, misty and rainy. Some kayakers stay at the Armour Harbour base camp and day kayak from here allowing them to intensively explore the beautiful area and have a nice comfort zone on their holidays.
