Nirivia-The Nation

Nirivia, though declared a ‘Nation’ has no pretension of sovereignty. This area of Canada, in the Province of Ontario, is mostly crown land that is administered by the great northern bureaucracy: Ministry of Natural Resources; known among the common folk as the Must Not Rush Ministry. In 1999 the Government of Ontario finally recognized the pristine qualities of the offshore islands on the north shore and all the islands were designated as Conservation Areas. This allows for multi-use recreation but has eliminated logging and mining from the islands. Nirivia is an environmental ‘state of mind’ and has a number of nationhood symbols. These are:

Nirivian Flag

Flag shows spirit heron rampant, the official bird of the Nation, on a pyramid of green, representing the Forested Isles; flanked by the blue waters of Superior; crowned by the red sky of the Setting Sun and the grand orb of the Rising Moon.
